Hingham, MA - The Hingham Police Department will be participating in the "Home Base No Shave" campaign. Home Base is a program of Massachusetts General Hospital and The Red Sox Foundation that helps Veterans and their families to heal from invisible wounds, such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries. The campaign's goal is to raise awareness and funds for Veteran care.
Last year, we were one of 136 police departments in New England who participated in this program. The program raised $321,000 last November that helped provide critical mental health and brain injury care for wounded and injured service members and their families.
Officers who make a $100 donation will be authorized to grow beards for November. Participating female Officers will be allowed to have a 1.5 inch colored streak in their hair or wear fingernail polish (red/white/blue). Department members can also participate by donating $100 to Home Base without taking part in the relaxed grooming standards.
Participating members can also wear a Home Base pin on their uniform in November to help raise awareness for this program. ### Contact P.I.O. Sgt. Steven Dearth
