We are proud to announce that this afternoon, Interim Chief David P. Jones was officially sworn in as the permanent Police Chief of the Hingham Police Department. Chief Jones becomes just our 11th permanent Police Chief since we were formed in 1907.
The ceremony was held outside the Hingham Town Hall as it began snowing. It was attended by just a small number of officials and some members of the Department to comply with safety and state mandates (in contrast to a non-pandemic swearing-in ceremony which is held inside, open to the public with advance notice and packed with family, friends, residents and co-workers).
Chief Jones was administered his Oath of Office by Hingham Town Clerk Eileen McCracken. After taking the Oath, he signed the Oath. Coincidently, Town Clerk McCracken has administered every Oath Chief Jones has taken, 7 total during swearing-in ceremonies, beginning with his first swearing in as a new Patrol Officer.
Congratulations Chief Jones.
