Hingham, MA - A man was arrested Saturday following an investigation into overnight thefts from unlocked cars. Detectives obtained a search warrant and recovered the stolen items inside a Weymouth home.
On Saturday, September 10, 2022 a resident of High St. and a resident of Stonegate Ln. reported their unlocked cars in their driveways had been entered overnight and numerous items stolen. One resident said his air pods that were stolen had last pinged on Commercial St. in Weymouth. An Officer took the resident to the area to attempt to help locate them. Weymouth Police assisted at the scene.
As Officers spoke with people in the area, one Commercial St. resident admitted he found a pair of air pods on the sidewalk earlier and gave them to Officers. That same resident also said he had lost his wallet while on a walk around midnight but denied he had been in Hingham.
A short time later a resident of Stonegate Ln. turned a wallet into the Weymouth Police station that they found on their street in Hingham. It belonged to the same Commercial St. resident who found the air pods.
That evening, Hingham Detectives obtained a search warrant for the Commercial St. home and searched the home. The other items that had been stolen overnight were found in the house and the resident arrested.
Arrested was Edward M. Rubbo, age 28, of 1646 Commercial St., Weymouth, MA. He was charged with 13 charges: Larceny Over $1200, Receiving Stolen Property Over $1200 (5 counts), Larceny From a Truck, Breaking and Entering for Misdemeanor (2 counts), Receiving Stolen Property Under $1200 (3 counts) and Defacing Property. He was held on $1,000 cash bail over the weekend and arraigned at Hingham District Court on September 12, 2022. ### Contact P.I.O. Lt. Steven Dearth
