[ARCHIVED] Update on HPD Services and accessibility.

The Hingham Police Department is committed to providing as close to same level of service that you have come to expect from us with some restrictions. We will maintain the same staffing levels and continue to respond to all emergencies and calls for service.

We have restricted public access in police station to the front lobby only. We have temporarily suspended the prescription medication drop off program, please do not bring any medications into the lobby until further notice.  All civil fingerprinting appointments, firearms permit appointments, tours, meetings, car seat installations, and Citizen’s Police Academy classes have been suspended.

Police Records will be closed to walk-in requests, all requests will be handled electronically. All public records requests should be sent to policerecords@hpd.org. Please do not go to the police station to file a records request.

All motor vehicle crash reports should be mailed to the police station, please do not bring accident reports into the lobby.  Alternately you can email a pdf scan to policerecords@hpd.org.  You can obtain an electronic copy of a blank crash report at the Massachusetts RMV website, Operators Crash Report.

For example, Officers may choose not to handle a driver’s license or other paperwork while interacting with motorists or individuals. They may instead copy down your information or use their portable police radios to call in some information. Officers may ask people to step outside a home or business helpto speak with them, or in the cases of those coming into the police station lobby they will need to speak with an officer through an intercom or phone.
