It's almost July 4th. Two of Hingham's larger events, the Road Race and Parade will be kicking off. They require some detours so if you'll be driving through Hingham please allow some extra time. If you've been in the area before, the routes are the same.
The Road Race starts at 7am from Middle School and ends at Hingham Square. Route 228 will be shut down in both directions starting about 6:30am from Queen Anne's Corner at the Norwell town line. As the race progresses, it w...ill open in sections. Detours signs will be in place.
The Parade starts at 10am sharp. Route 228 will be closed off at about 9:40am at Free St. and Spring St. The detour signs will take you around Route 228 during the parade. The roads will open by about noon but expect heavy area traffic when the parade is over as drivers leave the area combined with beach traffic. The Parade is rain or shine.

As always, we will have a large amount of public safety staff on duty, some behind the scenes, to help make sure everyone has an enjoyable day. As always, if you "see something suspicious, say something to an Officer (9-1-1)". We hope to see you there, it's going to be a hot one.
